Landscaping
There is a considerable amount of existing vegetation on the southern site boundary adjacent to Whitwood Common Lane.
As shown on the landscaping plan opposite, the proposals allow to retain a large area existing tress and hedgerow in this location.
The development proposals allow for site wide planting and landscaping works, with the bulk of new planting taking place to the eastern boundary to provide screening to the residential properties.
To the area adjacent to the eastern boundary, it is noted that the area will benefit from a new hedgerow to the boundary/fence line. Adjacent to this, an area of woodland understory mixed planting is proposed, which will comprise whips/transplants planted in groups of 3-9 on a 1m grid. In addition to this, there is also a scheme of new tree planting works proposed to this area which will include a mix of;
- Coniferous trees – minimum height 2.5m
- Heavy trees – 3.5-4m height
- Extra heavy trees – 4-4.5m height
The design for the landscaping proposals are currently in the process of being updated to include a greater number of trees to the area on the eastern boundary. The original proposal allows for 59No trees to be planted, but the revised proposals will now see 73No trees planted to the same area. To the remaining areas of the site, a further 57No trees are proposed to be planted, in addition to new hedgerows and grassed areas.
